The Vojvodina Movement

We are convinced that all those involved in international political, economical, cultural and other issues concerning South Eastern Europe are working with goodwill and with aim to support the whole process of democratization and opening of the FR of Yugoslavia or some of its parts. Therefore we are addressing to your kind attention the document dealing with important, sensitive and interesting matter - Statement of the International Relations Council of the Vojvodina Movement concerning Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe.

The Vojvodina Movement is NOT just another organisation at the complex, dynamic and sometime chaotic scene of the Yugoslav political and social life. Rather new, this Movement is really unique appearance, nearly the phenomenon. Born as association of political parties and non-governmental organizations, The Movement now comprises of 12 parties and NGOs and many directly involved reputable individuals. It has several dozens of local organizations (committees) in many cities and towns of Vojvodina and several regional and other committees.

The Vojvodina Movement is unique also due to some other facts. It is the only organization with ethical code and only organization without (pre)dominant leader(s).

The main orientation of the Movement is toward democratic, based on the rights of all people and ethnic groups Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in the frame of democratic Serbia and Yugoslavia. Such Province shall be pointed to Europe and shall benefit from its historical heritage, from its geographical position and its multinational, multi-religious and multi-cultural tradition.

Having this in mind, the International Relations Council, one of the permanent organs of the Political Council of the Movement has prepared and organized a comprehensive deliberation on the issue crucial for all citizens of Vojvodina and all organizations in it - on the place and role of Vojvodina in the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe.

The Statement of the International Relations Council concerning Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe and Vojvodina as an Autonomous Province and a European Region follows this Introductory Notes.
